Crockett & Jones
Crockett & Jones was founded in 1879 in Northampton, England by James Crockett and Charles Jones as a small Northampton hand-bootmaking workshop specifically focused on producing technically-engineered Goodyear-welted leather dress shoes for the British luxury-gentleman community. The brand has been continuously operating from the same Northampton factory for over 145 years — making Crockett & Jones one of the oldest continuously-operating English bootmakers and one of the defining global anchors of the Northampton-bootmaking heritage.
The Crockett & Jones vocabulary settled around several specific products: the iconic Crockett & Jones Audley wholecut oxford (the brand's defining wholecut-oxford product — a hand-built single-piece-leather oxford with the iconic Crockett & Jones-style Goodyear-welt construction), the Belgrave brogue, the Connaught full-brogue, the Coniston countryside-derby, various heavyweight Northampton-Goodyear-welted bootmaking variants, the iconic Crockett & Jones James Bond programme (the brand has supplied James Bond's tailored shoes in multiple Bond films from 2008-2024), and a colour palette anchored to natural-tan English bridle-leather, oxblood, espresso, washed-charcoal, plus the brand's recurring use of natural-undyed and aged-leather patinas. Production is entirely Northampton-factory based using traditional Goodyear-welted construction.
The brand is independent and family-controlled by the Jones family through five generations (Jonathan Jones, the current managing director, represents the fifth generation of family leadership). Crockett & Jones operates flagship retail in London (Burlington Gardens, Jermyn Street — the brand's defining London flagships), Paris (Rue de Castiglione), Brussels, plus international wholesale through MR PORTER, MATCHES, the major US-and-European luxury menswear specialty retailers, Beams Plus, the long-running Japanese department-store distribution network, and the broader heritage-British-menswear specialty network. The brand has been one of the most rigorously committed continuously-family-controlled English bootmakers.
