Pomoca
POMOCA was founded in 1933 in Rolle, Switzerland by Swiss textile-and-equipment engineer Pierre Mottier as a small Swiss climbing-skin manufacturer specifically focused on producing technical-fabric ski-mountaineering skins (the technical traction-skins applied to ski bases for uphill ski-touring). The brand has been one of the longest-continuously-operating Swiss ski-mountaineering equipment brands and one of only a handful of specialist climbing-skin manufacturers that have remained continuously committed to single-product-category specialisation for nearly 100 years.
The POMOCA vocabulary settled around several specific products: the iconic POMOCA Climb Pro climbing-skin programme (the brand's defining product since the 1930s — a mohair-and-nylon technical-fabric climbing skin that has been the global reference standard for ski-mountaineering skins), the POMOCA Free Pro climbing-skin variant (designed for free-touring), the POMOCA Race Pro racing-skin variant, various technical-fabric climbing-skin variations engineered for specific snow-and-temperature conditions, and a colour palette anchored to natural-mohair (the brand's defining colour — the iconic POMOCA mohair-natural tone), washed-navy, oxblood, ecru, plus the brand's recurring use of saturated red-and-yellow safety colour combinations.
The brand is owned by Salewa-Oberalp Group (the Italian outdoor-equipment parent company that also operates Salewa, Dynafit, and Wild Country). POMOCA operates flagship retail at the Rolle Swiss factory shop, plus international wholesale through specialist ski-mountaineering retailers globally — particularly the broader European Alpine-skiing specialty retailer network, REI, Backcountry, and the substantial Japanese ski-mountaineering specialty distribution. The brand has been one of the most continuously-committed Swiss ski-mountaineering equipment specialists.
