Tricker's

Tricker's was founded in 1829 in Northampton, England by Joseph Tricker as a small bootmaking workshop specifically focused on producing hand-built leather shoes for the British country-pursuits-and-rural-working community. The brand has been continuously operating from the same St. Michael's Road Northampton factory for nearly 200 years — making Tricker's one of the oldest continuously-operating English bootmaking brands and one of only a handful of British bootmakers that have remained continuously family-controlled through the entire 20th century into the present. The Tricker's vocabulary settled around several specific bootmaking products: the iconic Stow brogue country boot (the brand's defining product since the 1930s, in heavyweight English-bridle-leather construction with the iconic Storm Welt waterproof-stitch detail and Dainite rubber sole), the Bourton brogue oxford, the Henry chukka, the Burford monk-strap, various heavyweight country brogues, and a colour palette anchored to natural-marron antique-tan leather, oxblood, espresso, washed-charcoal, plus the brand's recurring use of natural-undyed and aged-leather patinas. Production is entirely Northampton-factory based, using traditional Goodyear-welted construction at the highest English-bootmaking quality tier. Tricker's is independent and family-controlled by the Tricker family through eight generations (Nicholas Tricker, the current managing director, represents the seventh generation of family leadership). The brand operates flagship retail in London (Jermyn Street — the Tricker's London flagship since 1903), Tokyo (Aoyama, Daikanyama), plus international wholesale through MR PORTER, MATCHES, the major US-and-European luxury menswear specialty retailers, Beams Plus, the long-running Japanese department-store distribution network (Isetan, Mitsukoshi, United Arrows), and the broader heritage-menswear specialty retailers including Self Edge and Stag NY. The brand has been one of the defining continuously-family-controlled English bootmaking brands.
