Nike is capitalizing on the Air Force 1’s newfound momentum by bringing back one of its most beloved iterations. The Air Force 1 ’01, featuring the model’s rounder 2001 silhouette, is set to land in quintessential “Triple White” following the Nigo collab that revived it the other month.

Toe Box + General Shape
The Nike Air Force 1 ’01 is far stubbier and rounder than its successor, the toe box noticeably narrower than the version we’re accustomed to today, more in line with Nikes and Jordans from the ’90s and earlier.
Backtab + Spine
The heel is perhaps the easiest area to spot the differences. The backtab is far rounder on the ’01, consistent with the silhouette’s generally rounder shape, and the slightly lower overall height causes the spine overlay to run shorter as well.
Tongue + Padding
Reflecting the aesthetics of the era, the Air Force 1 ’01 features a more padded interior than the ’07 version, along with a longer tongue made from leather rather than twill fabric. The ’01 does not come with a lace dubrae, instead opting for a stitched Swoosh at the top of the toe box.
Ankle + Swoosh
The Air Force 1 ’01 sits lower on the ankle and carries a more rounded profile in that area. The Swoosh also reads slightly fatter, though that could be a result of the many other shape changes at play.
Midsole
The midsole on the Air Force 1 ’01 features a smoother texture compared to the ’07 version.
Outsole
Not much to report here, though the ’01 version does appear to feature slightly deeper ridges.
