Named for an early American outdoorsman and conservationist, the surprisingly cool and capable option has upped its game.

As regular readers of GP’s knife coverage may recall, early last year, CRKT introduced a rather unusual new knife.

With a moniker honoring pioneering outdoorsman, conservationist and writer George Washington “Nessmuk” Sears, the Minimalist Nessmuk made the case that a fixed blade can deliver on the EDC front.

CRKT’s most minimalist knife arguably looks better than ever with understated hues.

Having now spent some time with this rad little blade, I’m in no position to argue.

That’s especially true as it gets cooler thanks to a new limited-run edition ahead of the knife industry’s biggest annual event, next month’s Blade Show Atlanta.

Dressed for success

As much as I like the original Nessmuk, the new 2375W skew gets my attention by not fighting for it.

On the contrary, the refreshingly compact Alan Folts design takes a low-profile approach with the hues of its latest treatment.

The unconventional blade shape offers impressive versatility and capability for its (sub-3-inch) size.

The 2.98-inch full-tang blade is made of reliable, budget-friendly 12C27 steel, with a stealthy black stonewash finish.

The attractively unfussy aesthetic extends to the stabilized wood handle scales, which are rendered in black and bronze.

The shape of both ends is unique.

The generous choils enable a three-fingered grip as secure as the four-fingered grip of some other knives.

The Nessmuk-style (duh) blade is unlike any other, with a deep belly and strong tip that make it adept at a range of cutting, slicing and piercing tasks.

Meanwhile, the handle features deep finger choils, offering a surprisingly secure grip, and together with jimping on the spine of the blade, an inspiring degree of control.

With an overall length of 6.03 inches and a weight of 2.5 ounces, the Nessmuk is easier to carry than you might think, too.

The included sheath gives you multiple carry options, in addition to the naked neck knife approach.

The included sheath enables both belt and neck carry, and you can also tote the naked blade around your neck with the matching fob.

Which is great, because when you have such a conversation-starting knife, you’ve got to show it off, right?

Availability and pricing

The CRKT Minimalist Nessmuk 2375W is available now for $75.
