ANNAKIKI was founded in 2014 in Milan by Chinese designer Anna Yang as a contemporary luxury womenswear brand specifically focused on what Yang described as 'a deliberately-Italian-Chinese architectural-luxury vocabulary anchored to deliberately-experimental fashion-week-aesthetic positioning and Italian-mill-fabric production.' The brand has been one of the defining post-2014 Milan-anchored Chinese-heritage contemporary-luxury-womenswear brands. The ANNAKIKI vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: deliberately-architectural Italian-mill wool and cotton tailored separates with deliberately-experimental proportional construction, hand-printed silk and cotton dresses with deliberately-conceptual graphic-motif references, the brand's iconic ANNAKIKI technical-fabric outerwear programme (deliberately-engineered with hardware-and-strap construction), deliberately-architectural cotton-and-linen ready-to-wear, and a colour palette anchored to washed-black, oxblood, ecru, washed-charcoal, soft-pink, plus the brand's recurring use of saturated red, electric-blue, butter-yellow, and the iconic Italian-Chinese architectural-luxury aesthetic colour combinations. The brand has presented at Milan Fashion Week each season since 2015. The brand is independent and held by Yang. ANNAKIKI operates flagship retail in Milan (the brand's home flagship), Shanghai, Beijing, plus international wholesale through SSENSE, MATCHES, Lane Crawford, the Boontheshop network in Seoul, and a curated set of contemporary-luxury-womenswear specialty retailers globally.
