Heritage Streetwear
Bricks & Wood
Bricks & Wood was founded in 2017 in Los Angeles by Kacey Lynch, a South Central LA-born designer who began the brand as a community-anchored streetwear project rooted in the Black creative and skate culture of South LA. The brand's foundational thesis was specific and place-bound: produce streetwear, headwear, and small-batch programming as artefacts of Black Los Angeles culture, with deliberate refusal of the celebrity-anchored hype-streetwear vocabulary that defined much of the 2010s LA scene.
The Bricks & Wood vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: heavyweight cotton tees and hoodies with the brand's iconic stacked-typography logo, the SLAUSON family of products referencing the South LA street (and the late Nipsey Hussle's adjacent Marathon clothing line), repeated use of brown, washed-cream, sage green, and brick-red colour codes, and consistent collaboration with the New Era × Los Angeles Dodgers programme and Nike Skateboarding. The brand has also operated a long-running cultural programme — guest-DJ residencies, basketball pickup games, neighbourhood gatherings — that anchors the brand voice.
The brand is independent and held by Lynch. Bricks & Wood operates a flagship in Los Angeles (Slauson Avenue) plus a small set of carefully chosen wholesale partners including Union LA, Dover Street Market, the Nipsey Hussle Marathon shop, Japan's BlackEye Patch network, and a curated SSENSE relationship. Few US streetwear brands of the post-2015 generation have built such a culturally specific Black Los Angeles vocabulary while remaining deliberately community-anchored.
