Facetasm was founded in 2007 in Tokyo by Hiromichi Ochiai, who had previously worked as a designer at the Japanese street label Number (N)ine under Takahiro Miyashita. The brand's foundational thesis was specific: produce a Tokyo menswear vocabulary built on extreme proportional play — deliberately elongated sleeves, oversized layered tailoring, deconstructed shirt-and-blazer hybrids — at the deconstruction tradition that Miyashita had defined at Number (N)ine, but rebuilt for the post-2010 streetwear-meets-tailoring conversation. The Facetasm vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: deliberately-cropped sleeve proportions, multi-layered shirt-and-tee constructions (the brand's signature 'split' shirt with mixed-fabric panels), oversized boxy tailoring, deconstructed denim, and a colour palette anchored to washed navy, ecru, faded black, and the brand's recurring use of red trim. Facetasm became the first Japanese designer to present on the Pitti Uomo Special Guest schedule in 2015, an inflection point that brought the brand into the broader European menswear conversation. The brand is independent and held by Ochiai. Facetasm presents on the Tokyo and Paris Men's calendars and distributes through Dover Street Market (a particularly close relationship since launch), GR8, SSENSE, MATCHES, Antonioli, and a small set of carefully chosen Japanese department-store partners including Isetan and Loveless. Few Tokyo menswear brands of the post-2005 generation have built such a culturally specific proportional-deconstruction vocabulary while becoming integrated into the Pitti and Paris fashion calendars.

Shop Secondhand

Archive and rare Facetasm pieces mostly circulate on the resale market. Japanese sites don't ship to China — buy via a proxy like Buyee; most Western sites ship internationally or are reachable with a US/EU forwarder.
