Frog Skateboards was founded in 2015 in Brooklyn by skater Hunter Long as a deliberately-DIY skate-deck-and-streetwear brand specifically focused on what Long described as 'a deliberately-Internet-Y2K-aesthetic visual culture rebuilt as contemporary skate-streetwear.' The brand has been one of the defining post-2015 NYC-anchored 'authentic-DIY-skate-revival' brands, with the iconic Frog Skateboards graphic-design language and the brand's deliberately-low-fi visual culture anchoring the broader cultural position. The Frog Skateboards vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: heavyweight cotton tees and hoodies with the brand's iconic frog-and-internet-meme graphic-design references, deconstructed denim and workwear-derived skate trousers, the brand's iconic Frog Skateboards skate-deck programme featuring deliberately-DIY-low-fi graphic compositions (the brand has worked with deliberately-amateur-aesthetic Internet-meme artists on deck-graphic programs), the long-running Frog Skateboards × Nike SB, Frog Skateboards × adidas, and Frog Skateboards × Carhartt WIP collaboration capsules, and a colour palette anchored to washed-black, washed-navy, ecru, oxblood, plus the brand's recurring use of saturated red, electric-blue, butter-yellow, and the iconic Internet-Y2K-aesthetic accent combinations. The brand is independent and held by Long.
