Iron Heart
Iron Heart was founded in 2003 in Tokyo by Shinichi Haraki, a former menswear retailer who had operated several Japanese-denim-focused stores in Tokyo and Saitama before launching Iron Heart as a heavyweight-denim-specialist brand aimed at the international Japanese-denim-collector audience. The brand's foundational thesis was specific and technically driven: produce extremely heavyweight (16oz, 18oz, 21oz, even 23oz) Japanese-mill denim in the rope-dye selvedge tradition, with hand-finishing and reinforced construction at the level of pre-1955 American workwear and military denim.
The Iron Heart vocabulary settled around several specific products: the iconic IH-634 (a 21oz selvedge straight-leg jean that became the brand's defining product), various other weight-and-cut combinations of selvedge denim (the IH-555 slim, the IH-666 super-slim, the IH-888 N&S), heavyweight chambray and flannel work-shirts, and Type II and Type III denim trucker-style jackets in the same heavyweight tradition. Production is overwhelmingly Japanese, with denim woven on shuttle looms at Japanese mills and final construction at the brand's Tokyo and Saitama workshops.
The brand is independent and held by Haraki. Iron Heart operates a flagship in Tokyo (Akihabara) plus a small set of carefully chosen Japanese-denim-specialty wholesale relationships, including Self Edge (the brand's US distributor and the San Francisco-Portland-NY-LA chain that has been a long-running Iron Heart specialist), Iron Heart UK (the UK partner), and a wide Japanese department-store and select-shop distribution network. The brand has been one of the most rigorously committed Japanese-denim makers of the post-2000 era, with a particularly strong position in the heavyweight-denim-collector conversation.

Archive and rare Iron Heart pieces mostly circulate on the resale market. Japanese sites don't ship to China — buy via a proxy like Buyee; most Western sites ship internationally or are reachable with a US/EU forwarder.
