Le 17 Septembre

Founded
2013
Founder
Eunhye Shin
Le 17 Septembre was founded in 2017 in Seoul by Park Jung-im as a contemporary womenswear ready-to-wear label specifically focused on what the brand describes as 'the gap between Parisian sophistication and Korean everyday wear' — a deliberately understated vocabulary of soft-tailoring, neutral-palette knitwear, and Korean-fabric-mill workmanship at the contemporary luxury price tier. The brand's name references the date the brand was founded. The Le 17 Septembre vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: soft-shouldered single-breasted wool blazers in deliberately understated colour combinations, fine-gauge knitwear in Italian-and-Korean-mill cashmere and wool blends, deconstructed cotton-and-silk shirts with deliberately drape-heavy construction, washed-denim with traditional Korean tailoring proportions, and a colour palette anchored to bone, soft-grey, charcoal, navy, oxblood, soft-pink, and the brand's recurring use of taupe-and-camel tones. The brand has been a continuous presence at Seoul Fashion Week and has presented seasonal pop-ups in Tokyo, Paris, and New York. The brand is independent and held by Park. Le 17 Septembre operates flagship retail in Seoul (Hannam-dong, the brand's home neighbourhood) plus international wholesale through SSENSE, MATCHES, Lane Crawford, Net-a-Porter, the Boontheshop network in Seoul, Beams in Tokyo, and a small set of carefully chosen luxury specialty retailers globally. The brand has been one of the most quietly successful examples of post-2015 Korean womenswear that operates inside the broader Asian-luxury conversation without the K-pop-aesthetic visual vocabulary that defines much of the contemporary Korean fashion export.
