Maison Margiela 10
Maison Margiela Line 10 is the men's ready-to-wear sub-line of Maison Margiela, the Paris-based French luxury house founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. The Maison Margiela numbering system (originally devised by Margiela in 1988-1989) uses numbered lines to differentiate product categories — with Line 10 specifically focused on the men's mainline ready-to-wear collection.
The Maison Margiela Line 10 vocabulary settled around several specific products: deconstructed Italian-mill wool tailored separates with deliberately-Maison-Margiela-deconstruction-aesthetic proportional construction (anchored to Margiela's original 1988-era deconstruction tradition that subsequently became foundational to contemporary luxury menswear), hand-finished cotton-and-linen oxford shirts with deliberately-archival-Maison-Margiela construction details, the iconic Maison Margiela tabi split-toe footwear-and-boot programme (a defining 1988-era Margiela signature still in production), deliberately-deconstructed tailored ready-to-wear with the iconic four-stitch-tag construction, and a colour palette anchored to washed-cream, washed-black, oxblood, ecru, washed-charcoal, plus the brand's recurring use of natural-undyed and traditional-Maison-Margiela-aesthetic colour combinations.
The sub-line is part of Maison Margiela, the OTB-Group-owned French luxury house (Renzo Rosso's holding company acquired Maison Margiela in 2002; John Galliano has served as creative director since 2014). Maison Margiela Line 10 distributes through every Maison Margiela flagship store globally — anchored to Paris (Rue Saint-Honoré), Milan, London (Bruton Street), New York (Crosby Street), Tokyo (Aoyama, Ginza), Hong Kong, Seoul, plus extensive wholesale through SSENSE, MR PORTER, MATCHES, Dover Street Market, the major US-and-European luxury menswear specialty retailers, and the broader Asian-luxury-customer distribution. The line has been one of the defining 'menswear-deconstruction-luxury' sub-lines of the post-1988 generation.
