MIHARAYASUHIRO was founded in 1996 in Tokyo by Japanese designer Yasuhiro Mihara as a contemporary luxury menswear brand specifically focused on what Mihara described as 'a deliberately-deconstruction-and-hybrid-construction Japanese menswear vocabulary anchored to deliberately-conceptual hybrid footwear and architectural-tailoring proportions.' The brand has been one of the defining post-1996 Tokyo-anchored contemporary-luxury-menswear brands. The MIHARAYASUHIRO vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: deconstructed Italian-mill wool tailored separates with deliberately-architectural proportional construction, the brand's iconic hybrid sneaker-and-leather-shoe programme (deliberately-deconstructed footwear that combines athletic-sneaker and tailored-leather-shoe construction in a single hybrid form — a defining post-2010 contemporary-luxury-footwear product), hand-printed silk and cotton shirts with deliberately-conceptual graphic-motif references, deconstructed denim with deliberately-asymmetric construction, and a colour palette anchored to washed-black, oxblood, ecru, washed-charcoal, plus the brand's recurring use of natural-indigo, washed-cream, and the iconic Japanese-deconstruction-aesthetic colour combinations.
