Plan B
Plan B Skateboards was founded in 1991 in San Diego by skater Mike Ternasky and a team of professional skaters as one of the defining founding-wave 1990s American skate-deck brands. The brand was reformed in 2005 (after a 1998-2005 dormancy following Ternasky's 1994 death) by Danny Way, Colin McKay, and Pat Duffy under the broader Plan B parent operation. The brand has been one of the defining post-1991 (and post-2005-revival) American-anchored skate-deck brands.
The Plan B Skateboards vocabulary settled around several specific products: the iconic Plan B skate-deck programme featuring shifting seasonal graphic-design references (the brand has worked with deliberately-art-anchored skate-graphic-design programs across multiple eras), the Plan B team-pro signature deck programme (with deck-signatures from Danny Way, Colin McKay, Pat Duffy, Felipe Gustavo, PJ Ladd, and the broader Plan B team-rider roster), the iconic Plan B Public Domain skate-video programme, the broader Plan B apparel programme, and a colour palette anchored to washed-black, washed-navy, ecru, oxblood, plus the brand's recurring use of saturated red, electric-blue, and the iconic 1990s-American-skate-aesthetic accent combinations.
The brand is independent and held by the Plan B parent operation (Danny Way and Colin McKay are co-owners since the 2005 revival). Plan B Skateboards distributes through skate-shop wholesale globally — including Supreme, Slam Jam Milan, Civilist Berlin, FTC, the broader US-and-European skate-shop network, and the Japanese skate-specialty retailers Beams, Ships, United Arrows, and the broader Japanese skate-specialty distribution. The brand has been one of the defining post-1991 American-anchored skate-deck brands.
