Founder

Saturdays NYC was founded in 2009 in New York by Morgan Collett, Josh Rosen, and Colin Tunstall as a menswear-and-surf concept brand specifically focused on what the founders described as 'the cultural conversation between New York creative-class menswear and the post-1960s California surf aesthetic.' The brand's foundational thesis was specific: produce a contemporary menswear vocabulary that drew explicitly on surfwear silhouettes and California beach-casual aesthetic, rebuilt through the post-2008 New York creative-class menswear lens at a contemporary luxury price tier. The Saturdays NYC vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: cotton oxford button-down shirts in deliberately washed colour combinations, lightweight cotton-and-linen suiting referencing the post-1960s California beach-formal tradition, surf-derived deck-trunks and board-shorts with deliberate contemporary-cut proportions, the brand's iconic Saturdays NYC graphic-print product (with the recurring use of marine and surf-culture motifs), the long-running Saturdays NYC Café concept (the brand's deliberately-Soho-anchored in-store coffee experience), and a colour palette anchored to washed-navy, ecru, oxblood, sage, soft-pink, plus the brand's recurring use of saturated red and electric-blue surf-aesthetic accents. The brand is independent and held by Collett, Rosen, and Tunstall plus institutional New York investors. Saturdays NYC operates flagship retail in New York (Soho — the original 2009 flagship at Crosby Street; West Village), Los Angeles (Fairfax Avenue), Tokyo (Daikanyama, Aoyama), Seoul (Hannam-dong), plus international wholesale through MR PORTER, MATCHES, Mytheresa, Beams Plus, and the broader Japanese-and-American contemporary-menswear specialty network. The brand has been one of the defining post-2008 New-York-anchored 'creative-class-surfwear' menswear brands.
