TIBAEG (티배그) was founded in 2017 in Seoul by Korean designer Mihyun Hwang as a contemporary luxury womenswear brand specifically focused on what Hwang described as 'a deliberately-romantic-and-feminine Korean contemporary-luxury vocabulary anchored to deliberately-detail-rich construction and contemporary K-fashion-aesthetic positioning.' The brand has been one of the defining post-2017 Korean-anchored contemporary-luxury-womenswear brands. The TIBAEG vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: deconstructed cotton-and-silk dresses with deliberately-feminine and Romantic construction (the brand's defining product category since 2017), hand-printed silk and cotton shirts with deliberately-K-fashion-aesthetic motif references, deliberately-architectural cotton-and-linen ready-to-wear, the brand's iconic TIBAEG knitwear programme (deliberately-feminine knitwear with hand-finished detail), and a colour palette anchored to washed-pink, oxblood, ecru, soft-yellow, washed-cream, washed-navy, plus the brand's recurring use of saturated red, royal-blue, and the iconic K-fashion-Romantic-aesthetic colour combinations. The brand is independent and held by Hwang. TIBAEG operates flagship retail in Seoul (Hannam-dong — the brand's home flagship) plus international wholesale through SSENSE, MATCHES, Lane Crawford, the Boontheshop network in Seoul, Net-a-Porter, the Webster, and a curated set of contemporary-luxury-womenswear specialty retailers globally. The brand has been one of the more quietly disciplined post-2017 Korean-anchored 'K-fashion-Romantic-luxury' brands.
