The Nike Air Force 1 has been a strong option for decades for a myriad of reasons; endless color-blocking possibilities, timeless construction, ultimate easy of wear regardless of the outfit or occasion. If you’re poking holes in Bruce Kilgore’s design, though, and not just the ones in the toe-box, the breathability score for the once basketball model would likely show room for improvement.
By pinning new mesh siding and toes onto the AF1, Nike is aiming to alleviate that pain point. Like many modifications that come to the Uptown, that material switch first debuted in the classic all-white and all-black, but to befit this breezier life, warm weather color options are on the horizon. Here we have two drops in “Tough Red” and “Phantom,” approaching seasonal style from opposite ends. The former takes to a menacing blend of moody reds and a darkened Swoosh. The former executes the theme with cabana-ready off-whites and browns, closing out with the uniting touch between either pair: a dark grey suede Swoosh cutting through.
Both of these mesh Nike Air Force 1 Low pairs, “Tough Red” and “Phantom” alike, should be coming to Nike.com and the typical channels in short order. Be ready for the standard $125 upon arrival.
