DEEPMOSS was founded in 2014 in Shanghai by Chinese designer Liu Sicong as a contemporary luxury womenswear brand specifically focused on what Liu described as 'a deliberately-Chinese architectural-tailoring vocabulary anchored to traditional Chinese textile craft and contemporary East-Asian feminine sensibility.' The brand has been one of the defining post-2014 Shanghai-anchored contemporary-luxury-womenswear brands. The DEEPMOSS vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: deconstructed cotton-and-linen tailored separates with deliberately-architectural proportional construction, hand-printed silk and cotton dresses with deliberately-traditional-Chinese-textile-pattern motif references, the brand's iconic Chinese-traditional-dyeing programme (using natural Chinese dyes including indigo, gardenia, and madder), deconstructed denim with deliberately-Chinese-craft-reference construction, and a colour palette anchored to natural-indigo, washed-cream, oxblood, ecru, washed-charcoal, plus the brand's recurring use of traditional-Chinese-dye colour combinations and natural-undyed cotton tones. The brand is independent and held by Liu. DEEPMOSS operates flagship retail in Shanghai (Anfu Road — the brand's home neighbourhood) plus international wholesale through SSENSE, MATCHES, Dover Street Market, GR8, Lane Crawford, the Boontheshop network in Seoul, the Webster, and a curated set of contemporary-luxury-womenswear specialty retailers globally. The brand has been one of the more quietly disciplined post-2014 Shanghai-anchored 'Chinese-craft-revival' womenswear brands.

Archive and rare DEEPMOSS pieces mostly circulate on the resale market. Japanese sites don't ship to China — buy via a proxy like Buyee; most Western sites ship internationally or are reachable with a US/EU forwarder.
