Heron Preston

Heron Preston was founded in 2017 in New York by Heron Preston, an American designer who had previously worked as Kanye West's creative consultant for the Yeezus tour and as one of the Been Trill DJ collective alongside Virgil Abloh, Justin Saunders, and Matthew Williams. The brand launched with a thesis that combined Abloh-adjacent post-streetwear vocabulary (industrial graphics, safety-vest references, transport workwear) with a sustainability narrative anchored to upcycled materials. The vocabulary settled around several signatures: high-visibility orange and safety-yellow palettes, screen-printed industrial logos, deadstock-fabric construction (the 'Uniform' collection, made from deadstock New York City Department of Sanitation uniforms), and a continual use of safety pins, reflective tape, and other industrial-worker visual codes. Collaborations with Nike (Aerospace 720), Calvin Klein, NASA, and the United Nations have given the brand cross-platform visibility. Heron Preston is independent, with Preston as creative director and majority owner. The brand operates from a New York studio. Few designers have so deliberately positioned themselves within the post-Virgil Abloh streetwear-luxury crossover space — and few have built a sustainable-fashion narrative as legible as Heron Preston's, which uses deadstock and upcycled material as both message and product.
