INXX was founded in 2010 in Hangzhou, China by Chinese designer Cai Jiang as a contemporary Chinese-anchored streetwear-and-luxury hybrid brand specifically focused on what Cai described as 'a deliberately-Chinese-youth-aesthetic streetwear-meets-luxury vocabulary anchored to contemporary Chinese-mainland youth culture and broader East-Asian streetwear-and-K-fashion-export positioning.' The brand has been one of the defining post-2010 Chinese-anchored contemporary-luxury-streetwear brands.
The INXX vocabulary settled around several recurring elements: heavyweight cotton tees and hoodies with the brand's iconic INXX typography logo and shifting seasonal Chinese-cultural-reference graphic-design motifs, deconstructed denim and workwear-derived streetwear trousers, the brand's iconic INXX outerwear programme (including bomber jackets, technical-fabric shell-jackets, and oversized parkas), deliberately-architectural cotton-and-linen ready-to-wear, and a colour palette anchored to washed-black, oxblood, ecru, washed-navy, plus the brand's recurring use of saturated red, electric-blue, and the iconic Chinese-mainland-youth-streetwear aesthetic accent combinations. The brand has presented at Shanghai Fashion Week each season since 2013.
